Real-life conversations about life and finances. Anna Moulder + Ray Griffin
Talking Returns: THE PODCAST
Talking Returns: THE PODCAST
Welcome to Talking Returns.
This podcast is the culmination of two quite different careers (media and financial), undeniable on-air magic (from our prior radio segments), as well as a mutual hope for the future.
Talking Returns is a place where you’ll hear meaningful conversations about financial and economic topics and how they affect real life.
When we started the official planning for the pod in early 2026, the concept of ‘Talking Returns’ had been in the back of our minds for a couple of years.
When the US/Iran war kicked off, it created a very rocky road for so many people - so it was with an overdose of geo-politics, worry and instability, that we knew we had to begin!
As we navigate this wild old world, (where it seems death and taxes are still the only certainty), we needed a place to come, to make sense of it all. In particular, a space for conversations around money matters, investing, and the global financial climate, ultimately giving somewhere to connect and to better understand what’s unfolding in the world around us, and how it impacts us in daily life.
In what is arguably a world dripping with podcasts and opinions, we reckon there’s still space for a podcast like ours - one invested in making sense of what are often pretty complex topics. Given we’re living through so much uncertainty and disruption, we’re keen to cut through the BS, the jargon and the seemingly unreachable concepts, to talk about things that matter, the stuff that affects real life every day.
As the famous Cabaret song says, ‘money makes the world go round’, still as true as the day it was first penned. Money is important because (rightly or wrongly) it touches and influences so much in our world and how it functions. Money deeply impacts the lives we lead, the experiences and opportunities we are exposed to, and enables our ability to have choice (or not). But talking about money, understanding it and how it works and influences greater dynamics, should not be boring nor inaccessible.
Let’s talk about money stuff that matters, together, and without the judgement that can so often colour conversations centred around these topics.
An interesting and entertaining place to return to each episode - that’s what we’re aiming for, on Talking Returns.
We hope you enjoy what we’re creating here, and we’d love to hear from you along the way.

If you enjoy the pod, hopefully we’ll get to welcome you back to Talking Returns as one of our ‘Returners’. It’s a bit like being a Swifty, but in reality, that’s probably a bit ambitious in terms of comparisons!

Ray is the guy who knows about finance stuff. And business stuff. He really knows his stuff.
He’s been doing this for a long time and while having retired from holding a license to advise, for reasons unknown he continues to be fascinated with the world of economics and finance, and does his best to stay at the forefront of those issues.
Not licensed to advise he may be, Ray is however ‘licensed to thrill’ you on this podcast – see what we did there?
When he’s not Talking Returns, Ray loves to ride his motorcycles, is an avid music fan, and is quite the artist – Ray can sketch (sort of, he says)!
He enjoys the meditative effects of one or both of his two cats purring next to him and has been known to ride bicycles quite long distances.
As well, he’s been sitting behind microphones talking about money as the 'talent' for a long time, decades in fact - although he reckons he's way less experienced at wrangling microphones than Anna is.

Anna is a lover of audio, storytelling and connecting with people, and has worked professionally in media for over 25 years, primarily in radio.
Anna is a big fan of breaking down complex issues and concepts and talking them out, without dumbing them down.
When mounted upon a high horse*, Anna can be heard insisting on the importance of having conversations around money - at all ages and in all settings.
Whether it’s having proactive conversations around your income, and your personal goals; succession planning and what the future looks like for those still on the ground; shaping your business to retain and reward high performers... Anna is a firm believer that being transparent around matters of money can create opportunities and help avoid a lot of heartache.
As she dismounts from said high horse, Anna aims to hold herself accountable to these things, at the very least in her own family and within her workplace. *Whilst always open for an adventure, Anna generally does not ride horses, only metaphorically, although she has been professionally wrangling microphones for a living for a long time.
When not Talking Returns, Anna loves music and dreams of being a tambourine playing, backup vocalist in a band (one day).
Along with her hubby and kids, Anna loves camping, discovering new places and having a good time with friends and family (and the doggos)!
